MDLAND has a large Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) portfolio, which includes hundreds of both government programs and commercial companies, such as Aetna, CIGNA, First Health, Horizon NJ Health, United Healthcare, Empire Medicare and GHI Medicare.
Unlike the paper-based EOB, the ERA will eliminate manual EOB data posting and automatically populate payment information back to the patient's account.
Depending on the payer, some will stop the paper EOB between 30-60 days after the ERA has started and some will continue both ERA and paper EOB. For example,
Cigna - continues paper
Aetna - stops paper after 30 days
UHC - continues paper
Governments & BCBS - some stop others continue paper
