The 2007 ICD-9 codes take effective on October 01, 2007. Please be advised that CMS no longer allows a 90-day grace period for billing discontinued diagnosis codes. Any claims using outdated codes will be rejected.
The new ICD-9 codes offer more specific signs and symptoms which help you support the medical necessity of diagnostic tests and exams. There are 211 new diagnosis codes, 55 revised codes and 29 deleted codes. Please review your superbill to incorporate the new 2007 ICD-9 code changes which may affect your practice.
