Interboro RHIO and MDLand to Provide Financial Assistance For Implementation and Adoption of EMRs for Qualifying Physicians

New York, NY April 9, 2010 - The Interboro Regional Health Information Organization (Interboro RHIO) and MDLand International (MDLand) are working together to promote the implementation and adoption of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to physicians in Queens and Northern Brooklyn. This program provides financial assistance for qualifying providers implementing MDLand's Preliminary ARRA certified EMR product, as well as opportunities to connect to the Interboro RHIOs clinical data exchange network. The program is open to both primary care physicians and specialists.

Through the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act in President Barack Obama's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, over $30 billion has been allocated to direct adoption incentives for meaningful use of certified EMRs, including $17.7 billion in Medicare Incentives and $12.4 billion in Medicaid Incentives. Eligible professionals can select either the Medicare incentive, which provides a maximum incentive payment of $44,000, or the Medicaid incentive, which provides a maximum incentive payment of $63,750.

It is expected that, at a minimum, qualification for meaningful use will require eligible professionals to demonstrate use of electronic prescribing, Information Exchange (interoperability), and ability to report on quality measures using a certified EMR. Implementing a certified EMR and connecting to a clinical data exchange may be a valuable first step for many physicians interested in qualifying for the incentive payments available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Financial Incentive
Interboro will cover up to 85% of a one-year license fee and implementation of MDLand's iClinic EMR product, up to $3,000 per provider.

Who is eligible?
First-time providers in Queens and Northern Brooklyn who implement MDLand's iClinic EMR technology are eligible for the program. Providers will pay $600 to be enrolled into Interboro's clinical data exchange. Eligible providers include:
(1) Non-EMR Physicians (both PCPs and specialists) who practice in Queens or Northern Brooklyn (in the following zip codes: 11201, 11205, 11206, 11207, 11208, 11210, 11211, 11212, 11216, 11217, 11222, 11223, 11226, 11233, and 11237)
(2) Existing MDLand customers who are utilizing only the Billing or Practice Management Software and have an office in Queens or Northern Brooklyn Referral Bonus
MDLand will provide a $300 bonus for a successful referral and enrollment into this partnership.
